Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Supply Chain Manager to lead and optimize our end-to-end supply chain operations. This key leadership role is responsible for overseeing procurement, demand planning, inventory management, supplier relationships, and team development—all while ensuring alignment with company goals and operational excellence. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, strong communicator, and collaborative leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is passionate about continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Champion and uphold the Company’s core values, policies, and procedures.
  • Establish and execute the strategic vision for the Supply Chain department.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop supply chain personnel—recruiting top talent, providing coaching and performance management, and building succession plans.
  • Foster a safe and compliant workplace by enforcing health and safety policies.
  • Build strong internal partnerships across departments, including Production, Engineering, Finance, and Sales.
  • Drive effective communication and collaboration throughout the organization.
  • Oversee departmental administration including reporting, budget approvals, and procurement decisions.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement meaningful KPIs to measure success.
  • Develop resource utilization plans to ensure optimal staffing levels and capabilities.
  • Support the creation and management of annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Prepare and present monthly department updates for leadership and board review.
Demand Planning & Inventory Management
  • Proactively assess supply chain risks and implement strategies to avoid production disruptions.
  • Coordinate supplier and order changes to support engineering and design updates while minimizing excess inventory and obsolescence.
  • Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and work orders to plan purchasing activities.
  • Evaluate planned order quantities and adjust material requirements as needed.
  • Develop and communicate accurate demand forecasts to suppliers.
  • Plan and prioritize material requirements based on production schedules and operational needs.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to support manufacturing and parts sales.
  • Actively participate in the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process.
  • Monitor inventory reports to assess stock levels, material usage, and equipment availability.
Procurement & Cost Management
  • Manage procurement records and transactions within the ERP system.
  • Prepare, issue, and track purchase orders and supplier communications.
  • Proactively communicate order status updates, delays, or changes.
  • Resolve supplier issues including late deliveries, shortages, or discrepancies.
  • Conduct competitive sourcing processes (RFQs, RFPs, RFBs).
  • Maintain purchasing files, supplier documentation, and price lists.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational and governmental procurement regulations.
  • Manage the return or disposal of surplus and obsolete materials in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Step in to perform direct buying duties when required.
Contract Administration & Supplier Performance
  • Negotiate and manage supply agreements and service contracts.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address corrective actions as needed.
  • Develop supplier scorecards and KPIs to support continuous improvement and cost reduction.
  • Ensure contractual obligations are met and supply chain risks are mitigated.
  • Resolve supplier disputes, claims, and performance concerns professionally and effectively.

Education & Experience
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 5–10 years of progressive leadership experience, ideally within manufacturing or operations.
  • Experience in steel manufacturing or fabrication is considered a strong asset.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
