Job description
Overview

Type of position: Regular

You’ll join our Structural Engineering team and work with multidisciplinary teams on one or more projects. You’ll carry out consulting engineering tasks, including design, preliminary and detailed engineering studies. You’ll also help prepare engineering documents to design structures for projects in the heavy industry, mining and metals, energy, petrochemicals, environmental, sustainable development and other sectors.

Responsibilities
  • Design concrete and steel foundations and structures
  • Coordinate design activities with other disciplines (mechanical, electrical, etc.)
  • Prepare estimates, technical specifications and reports
  • Help with quality control of the work of technicians and drafters
  • Help prepare estimates, schedules and budgets, where necessary
  • Help plan, organize and assess work
  • Help monitor site work, as required
  • Assist with site inspections and surveys
  • Perform other technical functions to support project delivery
  • Maintain close and harmonious relationships with clients or their representatives
  • Manage mainly single-discipline projects

Certifications and Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or relevant experience
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec
  • Knowledge of structural analysis software
  • Available to travel occasionally to client sites and offices
  • Advanced English skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients located in English-speaking Canadian provinces and abroad; you may need to use English occasionally or daily, depending on current projects
  • Advanced French skills to collaborate effectively with BBA offices and/or clients in Québec
  • Asset: experience with finite element calculations
  • Asset: experience with dynamic structural analysis
  • Asset: valid ASP Construction card for health and general safety on construction sites (BBA can assist you in obtaining this card)
