Job Description

Distributed Messaging Technologies is responsible for providing software support for the suite of IBM MQ and IBM Integration Bus (IIB)/App Connect Enterprise (ACE) products globally across all RBC platforms. IBM MQ is a middleware product from IBM that runs on multiple platforms and enables applications to send messages to and receive messages from other applications. ACE/IIB allows business information to flow between disparate applications across multiple hardware and software platforms. IBM MQ and ACE/IIB maintenance and support responsibilities include the evaluation, installation, removal, upgrade, setup, configuration, and troubleshooting of the various versions of IBM MQ and IBM ACE across the enterprise. This position will be supporting these products on platforms like NonStop or Tandem (HP), Linux/AIX, Windows, Microsoft Azure and Open Shift Container Platform.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting in the building and maintenance of Messaging technologies on cloud & distributed platforms such as Microsoft Azure, OpenShift Container Platform, Linux, AIX, Windows and Tandem (HP).
  • Implement testing, reporting, documentation, and other services, as required.
  • Configure, install and upgrade IBM MQ and ACE on cloud.
  • Configure, install and upgrade IBM MQ and ACE on distributed systems.
  • Administer the MQ/ACE environments across the servers/pods where the MQ/ACE products exist.
  • Automate certain manual processes that are currently handled.
  • Involvement in various projects, such as Audit and TSS remediation.
  • Determine and recommend performance improvements.
  • Provide L2/L3 support of Messaging technologies, including support to user community.
  • Act as primary liaison between the vendor (IBM) and RBC for the Messaging technology products.
  • Maintain a very good understanding of supported technology as well as interfacing technology supported by other areas of RBC.
  • Effectively communicate complex technology subject matter and potential usage possibilities to senior management, peers and application development teams in RBC.
  • Ensure that instances of Messaging technology software are at an optimal release level and be involved, as required, to coordinate/perform upgrades.
  • Participate in OnCall routine when required.
Qualifications
  • Professional with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in IBM MQ and ACE administration and troubleshooting.
  • Post‑secondary diploma, degree or equivalent.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure (preferred), OpenShift Container Platform, and equivalent cloud products.
  • Experience with Linux, AIX, Windows and Tandem.
  • Experience in scripting, preferably shell.
  • Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Capability to manage multiple priorities across a number of assignments and prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to resolve any minor conflicts/issues and escalated to others as appropriate.
Nice to Have
  • Experience or understanding of IBM MQ, ACE, middleware technologies, and/or design techniques and tools.
  • Ability to script using shell, Python.
  • Previous platform experience.
  • Knowledge of domains, IP infrastructure, server operating systems, and domain registration standards, as well as an understanding of IT Standards, Methodologies, and audit requirements.
