Job description
Overview

A specialized professional role that focuses on the improvement of the agile team (e.g., pod) and champions the methodology, provides guidance on its application and associated processes, protects the team from outside distractions, conducts ceremony facilitation, removes impediments and is dedicated to the agile team or pod. The Scrum Master will create an Agile environment for the delivery team to thrive, while mastering waterfall methodologies to interface with the bank's traditional governance structure.

Responsibilities
  • Managing interlock and dependencies - syncing the team's 2-week sprints with the bank's waterfall milestones
  • Coordinate with non-agile teams (e.g., Enterprise Infrastructure, partner technology teams) who require intakes, longer lead times and formal requirements
  • Governance and gating - ensure while the team works iteratively, the team produces artifacts required for waterfall style reporting (release based)
  • Navigating "Big Bang" releases where the team's agile increments are bundled into a large, high-risk on demand deployment
  • Accountable to manage the standard scrum routines - sprint planning, daily stand‑up, retrospective and backlog refinement
  • Bi‑modal fluency - ability to speak and operate in "Scrum" for the delivery team and "Project Management" for Executives
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Proficiency in JIRA
  • Post‑secondary education
  • Certified Scrum Master and 3+ years of Scrum Master experience
  • Preferred 5‑7 years Agile related experience
  • 3+ years' experience with Agile Management tools
  • Experience working in complex, multi‑team environments (software development, ID, product, or enterprise transformation)
Key Skills & Competencies
  • Good facilitation, influence, and conflict resolution skills. Able to guide senior leaders, diverse teams, and stakeholders.
  • Strong servant leadership mindset with the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Excellent risk management to identify "critical path" items in a sprint that could delay a major waterfall milestone
  • Data‑driven mindset. Comfortable with metrics, flow analysis and ART health assessment
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills (verbal, written, presentation).
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and drive alignment in large, cross‑functional settings.
Nice to Have
  • Experience in regulated industries (e.g., Finance) and DevOps / continuous delivery environments
  • Background in change management or organizational agility transformations
