Job summary

A community health organization in Ontario seeks a casual Speech Language Pathologist to provide critical communication and swallowing assessments and interventions. The ideal candidate will hold a Master's in Speech-Language Pathology, be registered with CASLPO, and possess excellent communication skills. This role requires flexibility in travel to multiple sites and provides compensation of $51.57 to $60.33 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, treat, and manage individuals with communication and/or swallowing disorders
  • Counsel clients and/or caregivers about dysphagia and communication disorders
  • Participate in case conferences and team meetings as required

SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST (CASUAL)

The Wellington Health Care Alliance (WHCA) is currently accepting applications for a casual Speech Language Pathologist. The Speech Language Pathologist provides speech-language pathology services for the Wellington Health Care Alliance. The Alliance includes Groves Memorial Community Hospital as well as North Wellington Health Care (Louise Marshall Hospital and Palmerston & District Hospital). The home site for this position will be Groves Memorial Community Hospital. Additionally, travel is required to Palmerston and District Hospital and Louise Marshall Hospital, as required.

The role will provide speech-language pathology services to adult inpatients, and as delegated by the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging & Allied Health.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, treat, and manage individuals with communication and/or swallowing disorders
  • Counsel clients and/or caregivers about dysphagia and communication disorders and their involvement in the therapy process
  • Participate as an interdisciplinary team member to access and manage dysphagia and communicative environments for individuals with speech/language/swallowing impairments
  • Participate in case conferences and team meetings as required
  • Other responsibilities as necessary
Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Registration with CASLPO
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proven organizational and time management skills, with strong attention to detail and ability to effectively multi-task
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within an inter-professional team
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service when interacting with patients, families, colleagues and physicians
  • Experience working in a hospital setting
Additional Requirements
  • This position requires a highly organized, detail-oriented, energetic, team-focused professional to provide support in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Satisfactory performance and attendance required
  • Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date
  • Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Must complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment prior to being hired
Salary
  • $51.57 - $60.33 per hour
