OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect to support digital initiatives across Personal & Business Banking Canada (P&BB) and Digital (B2C) within our client's team. The successful candidate will partner closely with cross‑functional technology and business stakeholders to design enterprise‑grade architectures, lead solution design for new and enhanced banking applications, and ensure alignment with standards, compliance, and long‑term architectural strategy.
This role is ideal for a senior architect who thrives in complex enterprise environments and is comfortable leading solution decisions across digital channels, credit cards, and broader digitization initiatives.
Location: Toronto, ON — (Hybrid – 2 days/week in office)
Contract Length: 6 Months (Extension up to 2 years possible)
Hours: Standard business hours, 37.5 hrs/week
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and manage end‑to‑end technical solutions for enterprise programs and multiple portfolio‑level projects.
- Translate business requirements from Account Managers and Business Analysts into effective, scalable architectural solutions.
- Produce conceptual, logical, and high‑level solution architectures that align with business, financial, and technology objectives.
- Develop and maintain system diagrams, architecture documents, process flows, integration patterns, and value‑chain mappings.
- Ensure proposed solutions adhere to internal architecture standards, patterns, and external regulatory requirements.
- Assess and balance trade‑offs between speed‑to‑market, cost, quality, risk, and long‑term maintainability.
- Collaborate with Account Managers and Business Analysts to refine application requirements and validate feasibility.
- Participate in requirements and analysis workshops, clarifying technical components and integration points.
- Consolidate and present solution requirements to business sponsors for review and approval.
- Partner with Enterprise Architecture to assess feasibility, alignment with existing application capabilities, and long‑term architectural direction.
- Articulate and defend architectural recommendations at governance forums and steering committees.
- Provide leadership in microservices design, REST/JSON schema development, and real‑time and batch interface architecture.
- Support initiatives across client’s digital channels, online/mobile banking, credit card products, and broader digitization efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of enterprise, application, and information architecture experience in large, complex environments.
- 3+ years as a Solution Architect designing solutions at enterprise scale.
- 5+ years of prior software development experience.
- Strong expertise in service‑oriented architecture, system integration, data modeling, and relational database design.
- Proven experience designing real‑time and batch integrations, including sequence diagrams and integration documentation.
- Deep understanding of TOGAF architecture framework.
- Strong working knowledge of the BIAN financial services model.
- Hands‑on experience architecting microservices, RESTful APIs, JSON schemas, and cloud‑based solutions.
- Solid cloud architecture skills (Azure preferred).
- Strong knowledge of database structures, schema design, and data modeling.
Preferred
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
- Previous experience in banking or financial services.
- Exposure to digitization initiatives, online/mobile banking, or customer‑facing digital channels.
- Experience in banking domains such as mortgage, ATM, branch, or call centre systems.
- TOGAF certification or similar architecture designation.

Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- TOGAF or similar architecture certification strongly preferred.
