Job summary

A leading Canadian university seeks Tutorial Leaders and Markers for the CHM362H5S Metabolism and Bioenergetics course. Applicants must hold an M.Sc. in Chemistry or Biochemistry and have strong communication skills, along with previous experience in a tutorial setting. Requisition Title: SIA – CHM362H5S Metabolism and Bioenergetics

Course Title : CHM362H5S Metabolism and Bioenergetics

Course Description : Basic principles of biological energetics. Metabolic pathways for carbohydrate and lipid synthesis and degradation. Survey of amino acid and nucleotide metabolism. Integration and cellular regulation of metabolism. Intracellular signal transduction mechanisms. Lectures will focus on explaining concepts, with example practice problems. Tutorials will provide students with review of lecture material and the opportunity to work through questions from the textbook and other sources.

Number of Positions (est) : 2 positions.

  • Positions are dependent on actual course enrolment, and are not guaranteed.

Hours of work (est) : 37.50 hours

Class schedule : In-person delivery on Fridays 9-10am and/or Fridays 11am-12pm.

Sessional dates of appointment : January 2026 – April 2026

Qualifications :M.Sc. in Chemistry and/or Biochemistry. Sound knowledge in contents covered in the course required. Previous TA/SIA experience marking assignments, quizzes, tests and/or final exam and working with undergraduate students in Chemistry tutorial setting an asset to be able to demonstrate and deliver course content consistently within the UofT's standards. Good communication skills are required as well.

Description of Duties : Duties will include leading tutorials, marking quizzes/assignments, and/or midterms/final examination. May also include invigilation of term tests and/or final exam.
