Sessional Lecturer, English

The Department of English in the College of Arts and Science invites applications for a Sessional Lecturer to teach the ISAP course for Winter 2025. The course is ENG 120 (94) Introduction to Creative Writing. Term Two runs Jan 6 – Apr 7. Delivery is as a Lecture with a Teacher's Assistant. Course Schedule: LEC on Monday and Wednesday 1:30pm–3:20pm; TUT on Wednesday 2:30pm–3:20pm. Expected enrollment limit: 30. Location: Main Campus, Saskatoon.

Qualifications

Required: An M.F.A. in Writing, or an M.F.A. in progress, or commensurate qualifications. This ISAP section includes additional qualifications:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous community priorities and perspectives, and attention to socio-economic, inter-generational, and educational barriers that affect Indigenous post-secondary cohorts in Saskatchewan.
  • Familiarity with Indigenous perspectives and research methodologies as they connect to relevant academic disciplines and to student success in those disciplines.
  • Experience teaching using methods that promote collaborative and peer-to-peer learning in small course cohorts.
  • Experience teaching mature student cohorts and students with nonstandard K-12 preparation in relevant academic disciplines.
  • Demonstrated intercultural competence and commitment to pedagogic praxis (reflection and reflexive adaptation of teaching).

This position may be filled as per Article 16.08 of the CUPE 3287 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
