As a Service Foreman, you’ll be the frontline leader in the Service Department, supporting both the team and the Service Manager in day-to-day operations. You’ll assign work based on technician skill sets, oversee repair progress, and ensure jobs are completed accurately and on time. You’ll act as a technical resource for diagnostics and troubleshooting while also helping to maintain customer satisfaction through clear communication and timely service. Your role bridges the gap between the technicians and management—coordinating workflow, supporting training and performance feedback, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer care are met every day.

  • Assigns jobs and work areas to Service Department employees based on skills and knowledge
  • Ensures timely completion of all assigned work
  • Appraises incoming work orders and may participate in repairs
  • Reviews work orders for accuracy and completeness
  • Provides technical support and problem resolution for technicians, apprentices, and customers
  • Directs and assists with diagnosing machine problems
  • Assists with technician recruitment and onboarding
  • Communicates customer complaints to the Service Manager
  • May approve the release of equipment for delivery upon payment
  • Assists in delivering performance feedback to service staff
  • Supports the Service Manager in all aspects of department operations
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Service Technician
  • Proven ability to lead and support a team through change
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Availability for rotating weekend shifts
Preferred
  • Experience working with John Deere equipment
  • Familiarity with competing agricultural or turf equipment brands
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a service environment
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Post‑secondary training or technical certifications in equipment repair or mechanics is an asset
