Role overview

The Senior Underwriter, Cyber & Technology will act within established guidelines and market to analyze, review, evaluate and monitor new and renewal accounts for our Middle Market ($50M to $2B), and Large Complex (revenues greater than $2B) accounts. Senior Underwriters exercise independent judgment in processing accounts and manage underwriting activities.

Work profile

From our office in Toronto above Kelly’s Landing at 123 Front St. W, you’ll remotely work two days a week, and be on-site for three days. Maintaining close ties with brokers and clients, as well as actively engaging in industry and company functions, will necessitate some travel.

Responsibilities
  • Underwrite and manage an existing book of Cyber and Technology business.
  • Develop new business and grow the business profitably.
  • Develop and manage broker and intermediary relationships along with sales and marketing. Perform required marketing calls through regular broker visits on a timely and frequent basis.
  • Develop internal relationships with other profit centers and distribution staff.
  • Work to become proficient in other related insurance products offered by AXIS.
  • Participate in development of overall strategy and assist in implementation of strategic measures.
  • Participate in projects, other duties or similar work as required.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
  • Two or more years of experience underwriting E&O (Cyber / Tech related is strongly preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
  • Proven marketing abilities and established relationships with brokers.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Excellent communications skills and the ability to work across multiple areas of the company and industries.
  • Ability to work independently – self-motivated.
  • Candidate should be positive, energetic and possess strong interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills.
