The Senior Pipeline Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining Python-based tools and services that support dataflow, asset management, and system integration across stage production pipelines. This role focuses on enabling reliable movement of assets, metadata, and media through real-time and near-real-time workflows that support virtual production, volumetric capture, and stage operations.
The role works closely with Pipeline, Stage Operations, Production, and R&D stakeholders to define requirements, design scalable systems, and translate workflow needs into maintainable software. Core responsibilities include integrating with production systems such as ShotGrid, managing asset and metadata lifecycles across stage and capture workflows, supporting video transcoding and color pipelines, and contributing code that operates effectively within both centralized and distributed source-control ecosystems, aligning with established pipeline standards and development practices.
Familiarity with volumetric capture workflows and modern pipeline‑adjacent technologies—such as ML‑ or AI‑assisted tooling, including service‑oriented or MCP‑style architectures—is valuable for evolving stage workflows. Experience with Houdini, and its API, is considered a strong bonus.
A Senior Pipeline Engineer brings strong systems thinking, anticipates points of friction in fast‑paced stage environments, and delivers scalable, production‑ready solutions. They mentor peers, collaborate effectively within the Pipeline team, and help evolve the stage pipeline to support both current production demands and emerging technologies.
