Job Description

Under the direction of the Vice President – Underwriting & Risk / Asset Management, the Senior Real Estate Analyst assists the Investments team with the underwriting and analysis of existing loans and potential financing transactions. The Senior Real Estate Analyst must be able to efficiently and effectively articulate their analysis verbally and in written communications. A successful candidate will regularly be dealing with competing deadlines and shifting priorities due to the transaction-based nature of the role. The Senior Real Estate Analyst is expected to be able to effectively complete research tasks, property valuations, loan reviews and investment proposal write-ups in a timely manner with limited guidance and oversight.

Key Responsibilities / Functions
  • Prepare valuations of real estate assets including analysis of pro-forma and historical property financial information, rent rolls, leases, operating statements, tenant sales performance and other sources
  • Lead the review of borrower financial statements and business operations in the context of potential financing opportunities
  • Provide comprehensive market analysis to support existing loans and potential financing opportunities
  • Take the lead in the preparation of financing proposals with focus on ensuring compliance with the company’s established lending guidelines and procedures
  • Assist the Legal Administrator and Operations team in facilitating efficient and effective funding of mortgage investments
  • Analyze existing portfolio loans for requests for assumption, renewals / extensions, subsequent advances and / or modifications and subsequently recommend appropriate action to management
  • Monitor underwriting trends and provide appropriate feedback for improvements as needed
  • Work with members of the Investments / Operations teams on loan fundings, annual loan reviews and ongoing loan administration
  • Mentor junior staff on the preparation of valuations, financial reviews, market analysis, and proposal development, providing guidance and support to foster their professional growth and ensure adherence to company standards
  • Develop relationships in the commercial real estate industry to further knowledge of current real estate market and financing trends
  • Attend networking and industry related events to assist senior management with enhancing ACM’s presence in the marketplace and developing client relationships
  • Other ad hoc projects from senior management as requested
What you bring to the team
  • 3+ years of experience preferred in a similar role
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study, or equivalent
  • Strong analytical techniques across all commercial real estate asset classes
  • Ability to research from disparate, and sometimes limited, information sources to support findings and recommendations
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Solid understanding of commercial property operating statements, rent rolls and other property documentation
  • Familiarity with reviewing third party reports and other documents related to mortgage closings
  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to handle multiple competing priorities
  • Strong attention to detail, proactive and a self-starter
  • First-rate interpersonal skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • CFA or CPA designations, and experience with Microsoft Dynamics CRM is a bonus
