Overview

Our Nuclear subsector, a key component of WSP’s ERI (Energy, Resources and Industry) sector, supports clients in the nuclear industry. Our team offers a wide range of services, including technical and feasibility studies, project management, detailed design, procurement, site management, quality surveillance, commissioning and asset management. This division is operating at an exciting time as nuclear power and new technology solutions are developing globally, with Canada as a leader in nuclear refurbishments, nuclear new builds, capital projects portfolios and a deep history in nuclear supply chain.

What you can expect to do here
  • Lead cost control activities for nuclear infrastructure projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Develop and maintain detailed cost estimates and support change control processes.
  • Implement Earned Value Management (EVM) and change management.
  • Monitor project performance against forecasts and produce reports for project leadership.
  • Ensure approved funding for expenditures and the accurate recording of all project costs.
  • Define, develop, and document multiple dependent or independent budgets.
  • Approve changes to baseline estimates and forecasted performance.
  • Identify and resolve deviations from the plan, including potential future impacts.
  • Plan staffing and project hours to ensure resource alignment.
  • Conduct periodic reevaluations of scope, cost, and schedule.
  • Evaluate total project cost status and provide accurate forecasts.
  • Manage client expectations and coach others in effective negotiation.
  • Lead and mentor junior and intermediate cost controllers.
  • Support the development of cost control systems, tools, and procedures.
  • Keep track of change logs and supervise the change order process.
  • Ensure contractual obligations are fulfilled within assigned budgets.
What you’ll bring to WSP
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in cost control, including at least 5 years working on nuclear or large regulatory infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with nuclear projects within a project controls / cost analyst role.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel; experience with InEight, PowerBI, and Primavera P6 is an asset.
  • Proven ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience in mentoring and leading teams.
  • Motivated self-starter with sharp attention to detail and a team-oriented approach.
  • French fluency is an asset.
  • Must be able to pass Security Clearance.
