Job Summary and Essential Duties:

The Senior Process Engineer is a technical expert, problem-solver, project leader, and mentor. Responsible for developing and improving manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods. This role involves hands-on work with manufacturing and measuring precision optics and contributing to team efforts.

Through on-the-job training and prior experience, the Process Engineer will:

  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting development projects; apply knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; confer with vendors; observe operators;
  • Develop manufacturing processes based on product requirements; research, design, modify, and test methods and equipment;
  • Review customer drawings for manufacturability and collaborate to ensure performance standards;
  • Ensure product and process quality through testing and establishing standards;
  • Guide technicians through design and development projects;
  • Maintain professional knowledge via workshops, publications, and networking;
  • Mentor junior engineers and operations staff;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager.

Education Requirements:

  • B.S. in Engineering or Applied Science.

Work Requirements:

Physical Demands include standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking, hearing, and visual acuity. May involve sitting/standing for prolonged periods and handling oils and solvents in a clean environment.

Work Environment:

  • Manufacturing setting with variable noise levels;
  • Potential exposure to moving parts, fumes, oils, and solvents;
  • May require safety training and area-specific precautions.
