Duties

Reporting to the Manager - Research and Quality Assurance, the Senior Policy Analyst will play a lead role in the development of MACY policies and programs, reports, position papers, protocols, recommendation monitoring, and best practices through evidence-based research, analyses, feasibility assessments, and program evaluations. Duties will include the balancing of workloads between ongoing projects and time sensitive requests for policy information, all within a fast-paced work environment. The analyst will establish formal and informal linkages with a broad cross-section of government and non-government organizations and may represent MACY on a variety of multi-sector working groups and committees.

Essential Criteria
  • Post-secondary degree or graduate degree (preferred) in social work, public administration or related social sciences discipline or other field appropriate to the position with several years’ experience in a relevant service field.
  • Knowledge and understanding of provincial child and youth serving public systems, including services/systems such as child and family, youth justice, youth addictions, disabilities, youth mental health, education, and victim support, including associated regulations and standards.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills including the ability to perform research, interpret, assess, and synthesize information in a logical manner.
  • Ability to apply research principles to policy and program development, implementation, and program evaluation.
  • Advanced organizational and time management skills including the ability to manage multiple priorities while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the lives of Indigenous peoples and the aims and objectives of Indigenous communities, as well as other diverse cultures with respect to the provision of culturally appropriate services.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships and work effectively with a variety of people, groups and organizations.
  • Excellent written communication skills for the purposes of developing background material, position papers, special reports, and other original material which are used as a basis for broad policy and program decisions.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver public education to a variety of audiences, including children and youth.
Desired Criteria
  • The ability to communicate in French or one of Manitoba’s Indigenous languages.
  • Experience in a quality assurance role within a social services agency or department in a government or non-governmental organization.
