Overview

Senior Manager, Regulatory Affairs – Product Safety & Toxicology - Global at DECIEM | THE ABNORMAL BEAUTY COMPANY. This role is based in our Toronto Headquarters in Liberty Village and offers a hybrid work schedule (2 days in the office, 3 days remote). This is a full-time, permanent position.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, recruit, train, and manage the Product Safety team that is responsible for the evaluation and registration of DECIEM finished products.
  • Manage the product safety program and be a resource in the evaluation of both individual raw materials and marketed finished products.
  • Lead a team with diverse responsibilities including regulatory requirements for DECIEM’s raw materials within North America and for finished products globally; support all elements of this team and understand regulations impacting both the sale and marketing of cosmetics, as well as the evaluation and registration of raw materials.
  • Regulatory review of raw materials and finished products to ensure compliance with global cosmetics regulations or NHP / OTC regulations as applicable; responsible for the regulatory review of all documentation contained within the Product Information File for newly marketed products.
  • Maintenance and update of the Product Information File for marketed products and completion and review of Annual Product Quality Reports.
  • Management of regulatory compliance with CEPA for imported raw materials and similar programs (AICIS and REACh) for globally imported finished products.
  • Regulatory affairs component of New Product Development work; collaborate with departments to implement changes or new systems.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple, concurrent, and global projects within regulatory affairs and communicate ingredient and finished product assessment results with external teams, ensuring the impact is understood.
  • Lead a team of risk assessors and mentor staff to ensure continued growth within areas of specialty.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (toxicology) is required with 10+ years of experience in safety and risk assessments.
  • 5+ years of experience in regulatory affairs including submission and shepherding of product or ingredient registrations.
  • 5+ years of leadership or management experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in regulatory affairs, with focus on Canadian, USA, and European Union regulatory schemes.
  • Understanding of the regulatory framework for cosmetics and personal care products.
