Overview
The Senior Manager or Director, Financial Planning & Analysis is responsible for advancing the end-to-end financial planning, analysis, and reporting of budgeting and forecasting processes. The role leverages financial data to enable data-driven decision making across the organization by reviewing historical trends and forecasting future trends, sharing findings and recommendations with Executive and Senior Leadership to drive performance. We are open to considering this role at either the Senior Manager or Director level, depending on experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Organizes and project-manages the preparation of budgets and forecasts, coordinating input across departments to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with organizational objectives.
- Fosters a culture of accountability and continuous improvement to effectively collaborate and enhance Crombie’s financial forecasting capability.
- Oversees monitoring and analysis of KPIs, including performance against budget, and performs ad hoc financial analyses (e.g., breakeven analyses, cost of capital analyses) to support business strategy.
- Contributes to corporate strategy, financial planning, forecasting, and preparation of materials and presentations for the Board, Senior Leadership, and other stakeholders.
- Contributes to design and implementation of strategic forecasting in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Completes review and variance analysis for the monthly reporting package for the Executive team and contributes to Board materials.
- Supports quarterly public disclosures including the quarterly finance report to the Board and ensures compliance with accounting standards.
- Under oversight from the VP, Financial Analysis & Treasury, supports corporate financing activities, including quarterly and year-end calculations for the financial components of incentive plans (AIP, LTIP) with deliverables to People & Culture and Executive within annual timelines.
- Monitors macroeconomic indicators, market trends, and risks that may influence financial planning and organizational performance.
- Provides recommendations to Executive and Senior Leadership on actions to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
- Supports corporate financing activities, including sourcing and closing debt and equity transactions to support strategic initiatives and liquidity.
- Identify and implement strategies to enhance cash flow and minimize financial risks; support liquidity management.
- Evaluate debt structure and balance cost, risk, and flexibility.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to align forecasting with organizational goals and initiatives.
- People leadership: ensure team members understand objectives and are held accountable for performance; lead a team aligned with the organization’s strategy and values; foster a safe and respectful work environment.
- Other special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Real Estate, Statistics, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 5–7 years of experience in real estate market analysis, forecasting, or strategic planning roles.
- Designation (CPA, CFA or similar) is an asset.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills with proficiency in statistical analysis and data visualization tools (e.g., Excel).
- Solid understanding of real estate market dynamics, investment strategies, and regulatory frameworks; ability to translate insights into actionable strategies.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to distill complex information for diverse audiences.
- Proven leadership capabilities with experience leading cross-functional teams and driving strategic initiatives.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a proactive mindset.
