Director - Finance Division

Responsibilities and requirements for the role are described below.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the full financial planning, analysis, control and reporting for Aqualitas Inc.
  • Provide insight and strategic recommendations to the leadership team.
  • Develop and lead financial strategy, goals, and objectives for a fast growing contract manufacturer.
  • Oversee long-term budgetary planning and costs management.
  • Participate in key decisions pertaining to strategic initiatives, operating model, and operational execution.
  • Complete analysis of financial results; develop recommendations (strategic and tactical).
  • Develop and execute analysis of various business initiatives (e.g., new product lines, new formulations, etc.).
  • Oversee cash, investment, treasury and asset management.
  • Develop and utilize forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization’s operations and business plans.
  • Build and oversee the accounting department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions; supervise company.
  • Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions.
  • Oversee preparation and review of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial statements.
  • Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; manage preparation and support of all external audits.
  • Maintain a valid Security Clearance in accordance with Health Canada’s requirements.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
  • Qualified accountant (CPA), with at least 10 years previous job experience.
  • Cannabis and bio-asset accounting experience.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience working in SAP would be a definite asset.
  • Hands-on approach and proven ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
Skill Requirements
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Experience handling budgets and forecasting/reporting results.
  • Knowledge of the Cannabis Industry.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented and able to manage/execute multiple ongoing projects.
  • Knowledge of GMP and GPP is an asset.
  • Ability to act independently and as a team member.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy including thorough documentation abilities.
  • Adaptability and flexibility.
  • Ability to prioritize activities and adjust priorities on short notice.
  • Excellent comprehension, communication and interpersonal skills.
Other details
  • Location: Hybrid work arrangement (work from home and also be available to attend production facility at Brooklyn, Queens County, NS at least once a week).
  • Compensation: To be determined based on skills and experience.
  • Status and Hours: Permanent, 40 hours per week.
