Qualifications

  • 8-10+ years of estimating experience on CLASS A ESTIMATES.
  • Experience in the ICI construction environment.
  • Knowledge of electronic take-offs.
  • Ability to negotiate and award contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in project development including scope definition.
  • Provide preconstruction services including budget preparation.
  • Determine expenses and provide margin input.
  • Coordinate detailed quantity takeoff estimates.
  • Solicit information from subcontractors and suppliers.

About Our Client

Our client is a Greater Toronto based general contractor with over 20 years' experience in institutional, commercial, and industrial projects.

Job Description
  • Participate in project development activities including scope definition and clarification, preconstruction planning, control estimate development and delivery
  • Provide preconstruction services including the preparation of preliminary budgets, cost plans, and value engineering opportunities
  • Determine general expenses and provide input into the margins/fees
  • Coordinate preparation and performance of full detailed quantity takeoff estimates, identifying inherent risk and opportunities
  • Soliciting information from subcontractors and suppliers, and analyzing subcontractor requirements
  • Assist in negotiating and awarding of contracts
  • Assisting in project planning and scheduling

The Successful Applicant
  • 8-10+ years of estimating experience working on CLASS A ESTIMATES
  • Preferably someone who has a strong contact network in the area of trades & clients
  • Experience in the ICI construction environment, on the General Contracting side of the ICI industry.
  • Knowledge of lump sum, construction management and conceptual estimating for ELECTRONIC TAKE-OFFS
  • Experience using estimating software an asset (Timberline Estimating, Prime Bid, On-Centre Takeoff preferred)
  • Post-secondary education in quantity surveying/estimating, architectural technology or engineering technology
