Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Senior Environmental Professional to join our dynamic and growing team. The ideal candidate will bring a proven ability in environmental consulting, with a focus on supporting midstream, downstream and upstream oil and gas clients across a diverse range of projects.
As a key technical advisor, you will help manage client portfolios and oversee the execution of Environmental Applications, Environmental Site Assessments, Remediation and Reclamation activities for purposes of obtaining environmental closure. You will guide projects from initial planning through to successful completion, ensuring technical excellence and regulatory compliance throughout.
Role and Responsibilities

- Technical Advisory: Provide expertise and technical input throughout all phases of environmental projects, ensuring alignment with regulatory frameworks and industry best practices.
- Technical Advisory (continued): Support the successful delivery of environmental projects by providing technical expertise from initiation through to completion. Collaborate with project managers to ensure environmental scopes are well-defined, technically sound, and aligned with regulatory requirements. Contribute to project planning, execution, and reporting by interpreting environmental data, guiding remediation strategies, and ensuring quality and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Draft, review and contribute to technical deliverables, including environmental assessments, remediation plans and regulatory submissions.
- Consult with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to clarify technical requirements and support permitting and approval processes.
- Assist in identifying project risks and mitigation strategies related to environmental compliance and site conditions.
- Mentor junior and intermediate team members by providing guidance on technical methodologies, regulatory interpretation, and field practices.
- Ensure technical quality and defensibility of environmental recommendations, particularly in complex or sensitive site scenarios.

You will play a key role in ensuring environmental due diligence and regulatory compliance across all project phases.
Regulatory Expertise
- Have a comprehensive understanding of British Columbia’s Environmental Management Act (EMA), Contaminated Sites Regulation (CSR), and associated protocols, including risk assessments, site-specific soil standards, and remediation procedures administered by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy.
- Possess a strong working knowledge of Alberta’s environmental regulatory framework, including contaminated site management under Alberta Environment and Protected Areas (AEPA), as well as contaminant oversight and closure requirements administered by the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER). Experience interpreting and applying relevant legislation, guidelines, and remediation standards is essential.
- Demonstrate experience with Alberta Tier 1 and Tier 2 Soil and Groundwater Remediation Guidelines, including their application in contaminated site evaluations and remediation planning.
- Determine and apply site-specific environmental guidelines under both British Columbia and Alberta jurisdictions, ensuring technical defensibility and regulatory alignment.
- Collaborate as part of team to develop remediation efforts with the goal of achieving regulatory closure through formal reclamation certifications or other closure methods.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Agrology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in environmental consulting or industry, preferably within the upstream, midstream and/or downstream oil and gas, municipal, or industrial sectors.
- Eligible for or currently holding a professional designation with a recognized regulatory body (e.g., P.Ag, P.Geo, P.Eng).
- Proficient knowledge of British Columbia and/or Alberta’s environmental regulations and guidelines.
- Excellent technical writing and analytical skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise and defensible reports.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with experience working in fast-paced, multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated leadership in mentoring and managing intermediate and junior team members.
