What you will get to do
  • Partner with leaders across Canada and provide direct on-site support to ensure baseline EHS programs are in place and effective and communicate best management practices across the region
  • Directly support the interpretation, translation, and implementation for execution for EHS programs and policies at the sites within Canada
  • Provide compliance assurance & review (internal & external audits)
  • Lead incident investigations, create 4-Block summaries including validation of root cause and sustainable corrective actions
  • Participate and lead agency inspection response requirements for WSIB, WCB, and CNSST
  • Directly support sites with the understanding, implementation, and validation of the EHS Management System
  • Provide EHS training for designated staff, including the standardization and effectiveness of site EHS committees
  • Support sites in achieving zero waste to landfill, and energy and water conservation
  • Ensure compliance and regulatory requirements across Canada. – eg: Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)
  • Support the development, deployment, and review of EHS policies & programs in partnership with global EHS COE’s (centres of excellence)
  • Liaison between location management and government agencies on regulatory issues
  • Provide monthly data integrity reviews, including safety and ECWW data reviews
  • Translate corporate requirements (external/internal auditing programs, environmental reporting, safety initiatives, roadmaps, scorecards, training programs) into management systems with site-specific targets and goals
Who You are

  • Must have excellent knowledge of federal, provincial, and local environmental and occupational health legislation and regulations as it relates to industrial safety
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Occupational Health and Safety or a related technical field required.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Canadian Registered Safety Processional (CRSP) strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Occupational Safety, Health, and Environmental Management and can lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures that meet local and national regulations (preferably in a global diversified company)
  • Flexibility to respond to emergencies and the ability to travel 30% of the time
  • Thorough understanding of federal, provincial, and local environmental and occupational health and safety legislation and regulations as it relates to industrial safety
  • Demonstrated experience in employee coaching
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Health and Safety legislation in all provincial areas is required
  • Excellent leadership and training skills
  • Strong time management, planning, organizing and prioritization skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal & communication skills
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills
