Job description
About H55

As the technological spin-off of Solar Impulse, the first electric airplane to fly around the world, the mission of H55 is to make aviation clean, safe, and affordable.

The company's strengths and competencies lie in developing propulsion and energy storage solutions which are modular, lightweight, and certifiable.

At H55, you will work with a very forward-looking team who are changing the paradigms of air transportation. H55 is composed of highly experienced engineers, entrepreneurs and managers and is seeking like-minded talented professionals who understand how to couple creativity and innovation with technical and business considerations.

About the role

In the frame of its product development (Electric Propulsion System and Modular Battery Pack), H55 is searching for a Senior Electrical Test Engineer to be based in its state-of-the-art new facility in Longueuil.

This role will primarily be focused on defining test activities, and strategies and test execution to enable successful product demonstration (V&V) of the Battery module.

If you are someone who thrives in a dynamic, hands‑on engineering environment, this role is an excellent match. It offers the opportunity to combine strategic test planning with practical, hands‑on execution. If you enjoy taking ownership, working autonomously, and directly shaping the way test activities are carried out, you'll find this position particularly rewarding. It's well‑suited for someone who values technical variety – moving fluidly between defining test strategies, setting up and operating test benches, and collaborating closely with engineering teams across continents.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary test focal point in Canada, representing the Test team in cross‑functional activities with engineering, certification and operations.
  • Liaison with product and system development teams to capture test needs, including the team in Switzerland.
  • Define appropriate test set‑ups to provide test data in support of prototype development, qualification, verification and demonstration of Safety of Flight Test.
  • Create documentation, including technical descriptions, test procedures and reports.
  • Execute complex tests involving electrical, mechanical, software, control and instrumentation elements, while maintaining safety as a priority.
  • Coordinate test activities with both H55 in‑house test teams and external suppliers.
  • Manage external suppliers.
  • Configure management of test assets to ensure traceability of test activities.
  • Assist test and development teams with trouble‑shooting, debugging and lessons‑learnt activities.
  • Track and log activities as required.
  • Provide timely formal and informal status as required by project management.
  • Take an active and lead role in test bench assembly, commissioning, instrumentation, wiring, and basic mechanical integration.
  • Independently operate, maintain, and adapt test benches on site, ensuring readiness.
  • Support operational readiness by managing consumables, test equipment, and site‑level logistics.
Qualifications
  • University degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Ideally experience in Aerospace industry or other highly regulated domain (Automotive, …).
  • 7‑10 years of experience in electronics and electrical system testing.
  • Good awareness of the safety challenges associated with batteries and high voltage testing.
  • Knowledge in the use and set up of LabVIEW‑based systems is a strong asset.
  • Open‑minded and cooperative.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative in a small team environment.
  • Comfortable balancing hands‑on technical work with planning and reporting activities.
  • Experience in both defining test plans and physically executing test campaigns is a strong asset.
  • Self‑starter with strong ownership, able to manage daily priorities with limited supervision.
  • Fluency in French and English (oral and written).
  • This position may require occasional travel to our headquarters in Switzerland.
