Wood is recruiting for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its BioProducts Canada business focusing on industrial projects in pulp & paper, biofuels, carbon capture, and utilities. This opportunity is hybrid, based in either Vancouver, BC or Grande Prairie, AB.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide electrical engineering support for bio-based industrial projects
  • Lead discipline scope on small projects and electrical packages on large projects
  • Act as the electrical Professional of Record on assigned projects
  • Coordinate design with other engineering disciplines
  • Develop design deliverables including single lines, layouts, schematics, grounding, cable routing, and equipment specifications
  • Prepare and conduct power system studies including arc flash, load flow, short circuit, and protection coordination
  • Specify and evaluate major electrical equipment including switchgear, transformers, MCCs, VFDs, and motors
  • Create construction packages, IFC drawings, material lists and estimates
  • Identify scope and schedule changes and assist with change management
  • Conduct checking and independent review of discipline work
  • Provide mentorship to junior team members
  • Support construction and commissioning activities as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Electrical Engineering degree from a recognized university
  • Professional Engineer registration or ability to register with EGBC and/or APEGA
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in industrial or process plant environments
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to self-manage and work in team settings
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 10 days per year
Desirable
  • Registration eligibility with OIQ (Quebec)
  • Knowledge and experience on Instrumentation and Control will be preferred
  • Experience with ETAP or other design software tools
  • Familiarity with electrical engineering database tools such as SmartPlant Electrical or Aveva Electrical
