Job summary

A progressive data solutions company in Iqaluit, Nunavut, is seeking an experienced data architect. The candidate will be responsible for developing enterprise data architecture blueprints, designing data models, and migrating legacy data systems to modern cloud platforms. Ideal candidates should have 3-5+ years of experience in data architecture, a relevant degree, and strong expertise in cloud services, particularly Azure. Additional certifications are preferred, and knowledge in data governance is an asset.

Job description

• Develop enterprise data architecture blueprints aligned with business goals.
• Design and implement data models, integration frameworks, and governance policies.
• Lead migration of legacy data systems to modern cloud data platforms.
• Define standards for data security, quality, and lifecycle management.
• Partner with analytics, engineering, and business teams to ensure solutions are usable and scalable.
• Maintain and organize architecture documentation, diagrams, and technical artifacts in an enterprise architecture repository.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 - 5 + years’ experience in data architecture, data modelling, and database design.
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in computer science, Information Systems, Data Engineering (preferred).
• Certifications such as AWS Certified Data Analytics – Speciality, Google Professional Data Engineer, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate and Microsoft Power Platform Developer - (preferred).
• Certifications in data governance or BI tools – an asset
• Strong expertise with cloud data services (AWS, Azure, or GCP) with a key emphasis on Azure.
• Hands-on experience with relational, NoSQL, and big data technologies.
• Knowledge of ETL/ELT processes, APIs, and real-time data streaming.
• Hands-on experience with ShareGate or equivalent migration tools.
• Proven experience in information or records management with expertise in SharePoint (on-prem and online).
• Proven experience in Microsoft Power Platform development
• Proficiency in SharePoint configuration, site architecture, permissions, and integration with other M365 tools.
• Familiarity with compliance standards such as ISO 15489, GDPR, or HIPAA.
• Strong expertise with data governance, compliance, and security frameworks.
