SENIOR ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT – GOA EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Location: Edmonton, AB (Onsite during training, then Remote)
Type: Contract | Full-Time
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:15 AM – 4:30 PM (1-hour lunch)
Contract Term: Up to 12 months

About the Opportunity

We are seeking Senior Administrative Assistants to support the administration of multiple funding streams under the Alberta Child Care Grant Funding and Affordability Grant Programs. These roles are responsible for ensuring financial accountability, evaluating grant eligibility, managing grant-related complaints, and supporting licensed child care programs across Alberta.

This position requires onsite attendance during training in Edmonton, with the opportunity to transition to remote work following successful completion of training. Please note that you must reside in the Edmonton area to be considered for this role.

Key Responsibilities
Grant Assessment & Administration
  • Assess, evaluate, and recommend grant funding for licensed child care programs
  • Determine eligibility and compliance with grant funding criteria
  • Advise grant recipients when funding conditions are not met and outline required corrective actions
  • Identify service delivery and payment issues and recommend solutions to management
  • Ensure services are delivered in accordance with financial legislation, Ministerial policy, and established guidelines
Complaint Management
  • Provide advice, information, and direction to resolve complaints from grant recipients, early childhood educators, and Alberta families
  • Review incoming complaints and determine the appropriate course of action, consulting with the Senior Program Analyst as required
  • Request and assess additional information to support complaint investigations
  • Assist with complaint investigation and resolution processes
  • Refer complaints when necessary
Additional Duties
  • Participate in the development of the Child Care Branch operational plan
  • Delegate administrative tasks to unit administrative or temporary support staff as required
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment
Mandatory Requirements
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Post-secondary education in Office Administration or a related field
Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience engaging directly with business or government clients
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in research, analysis, and problem‑solving
  • Minimum 3 years of experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a role similar to this position
