We currently have an opportunity to hire a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team on a temporary basis. The duration of this temporary opportunity is for approximately 22 months.

Reporting directly to the Controller, the Senior Accountant performs accounting functions that lead to the quality preparation of both internal and external financial and management reports and external regulatory reporting for the Credit Union and its subsidiaries.

Key responsibilities include performing functions in the monthly accounting cycle, preparing and assisting with various reconciliations and assisting with other projects as assigned. In addition, the incumbent acts as a resource and provides guidance to accounts payable staff.

The incumbent is a team player, committed to developing collaborative, positive working relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization.

The ideal incumbent will possess:
  • A Bachelors’ Degree with a major in Accounting and/or Finance or professional accounting designation
  • A minimum of four years progressive accounting experience, with a demonstrated understanding of advanced level accounting processes, principles and internal controls
  • Strong understanding of computer technology, including demonstrated advanced spreadsheet, word processing and Outlook skills
  • Working knowledge of an accounting and reporting software system
  • Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing, in a sales & service environment
  • Demonstrated numerical comprehension & attention to detail
  • Ability to organize work and meet deadlines within a fast-paced environment of constantly changing priorities
