Overview

SOCi, the CoMarketing Cloud for Multi-Location Enterprises, is currently looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to be a part of our Finance team. This individual will play a critical role in accounting for some complex accounting functions and supporting the month and year-end close processes. The ideal candidate is proactive, analytical, and process-oriented, with a strong understanding of payroll, commissions, and financial reporting. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects, streamline operations, and support the implementation of new systems and processes.

This is a 6-month temporary contract covering a maternity leave, working 40 hours a week. SOCi expects to pay an hourly salary in the range of $31.84 to $54.56 CAD. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

What You’ll Do
  • Month-End and Year-End Close: Complete accounting close tasks related to assigned functions, including payroll, benefits, bonuses, commissions and related ASC 340 Contract Assets.
  • Account Reconciliation: Prepare and reconcile assigned GL accounts related to the same functions.
  • Financial Analysis: Analyze accounts and prepare fluctuation analyses and financial statement analytics, with clear, insightful variance explanations to senior leadership.
  • Contractor Payroll: Accurately process contractor payroll, ensuring verification of wages, bonuses, commissions, and statutory deductions for contract employees.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with HR and other internal teams to validate employee data for payroll, benefits, terminations, and salary updates.
  • Project Coordination: Support accounting projects, collaborating across departments to align on goals and execution.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and document areas for automation and operational efficiencies and work directly with your manager to re-engineer and optimize processes, documentation, and reporting structures.
  • System Implementations: Support implementation efforts for new systems, including HRIS, expense management (T&E), or other financial technologies.
  • Audit Support: Assist with year-end audit preparation and respond to auditor requests.
  • Special Projects: Ad hoc assignments as requested.
  • Benefit review, payment and reconciliation including medical, dental, cobra, FSA / HSA and supplemental benefits.
What You’ll Need to be Successful
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in general accounting, preferably in a SaaS or tech environment.
  • Expertise in payroll and benefits accounting and reconciliation.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, including ASC 340.
  • Demonstrated success completing full-cycle month-end close processes.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and experience with major ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Workday, Oracle, SAP).
  • Proven ability to analyze financial data, identify issues, and implement solutions.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and accountability for deliverables.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Willing to adapt to changes in the job description as deemed necessary by the business and accept all other duties as assigned.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
