Qualifications

Midland Transport is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to be based out of our Head Office location in Dieppe, NB.

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the senior accountant is responsible for performing a variety of accounting functions and aiding the Accounting Manager.

Qualifications
  • You have University Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline

  • You have a CPA designation or are in the final stages of obtaining it
  • You have experience utilizing Cognos, AS400, E1 etc.
  • You have an advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint etc.)

Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly journal entries to ensure accurate revenue recognition and proper expense matching at period-end cut-off
  • Ensure timely publication of period-end financial results for terminal managers and senior leadership
  • Analize revenue, expenses and statistical data across operations, comparing results against budgets and prior periods for reasonability
  • Provide internal and external support to business partners, ensuring effective communication and resolution of financial inquiries
  • Train, coach, and support members of accounting team
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives
  • Other duties/projects as assigned
