Overview

What the role is all about: Under the direction of and reporting to the Sr. Manager, Security, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe, coordinated and efficient operation of WinSport. As a front line communicator, you will be pro-active in all matters of park safety, security, emergency response, preventative maintenance, public relations, and general park maintenance.

We are looking for a Part-Time Security Guard to work 10-25 hours per week with open availability Thursday-Sunday.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Identify park-wide safety concerns and rectify these concerns or report them to appropriate personnel
  • Assist paramedical staff and initiate first aid procedures in the absence of paramedics
  • Respond to all fire and building alarms and implement the appropriate action
  • Assist with the implementation of the emergency response plan and procedures
  • Attend vehicle accidents and complete appropriate accident reports
  • Respond to operational and building problems
  • Conduct routine patrols, building checks, and Safety Inspections of all park buildings, facilities, and grounds
  • Operate and monitor the closed-circuit television security system
  • Operate and monitor C-Cure and Sipass
  • Monitor doors, locks and security systems
  • Monitor and report on traffic, parking, and pedestrian issues
  • Respond to theft and discipline problems, initiate, follow up, and complete incident/occurrence reports
  • Attend court if required by an investigation
  • Assist with the coordination of special events
  • Provide general assistance to park visitors and be knowledgeable on "what is happening" in all areas of the park
  • Provide general assistance to other departments within the park
  • Provide after-hours access and emergency access to the warehouse and other park facilities to authorized personnel
  • Be mindful of all safety hazards/concerns within the work environment and ensure all safety issues are reported to the appropriate individuals
  • Review all OH & S notices/meeting minutes as they are distributed or posted on OH & S boards located within all departments
  • Other duties as required
  • Demonstrate a safe work practice at all times by adhering to all WinSport safety policy and procedures and ensuring one\'s safety is preserved along with the safety of co-workers, direct reports and WinSport guests
  • Shift work - can be overnight, potentially 8, 10 or 12-hour shifts
What You Bring
  • Post-secondary education in Criminology or Recreation an asset
  • Minimum 1-year previous experience in a security role
  • Mature, friendly, customer service orientated individual with excellent communication (oral and written) skills
  • A Valid Security License
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience working in a public or recreational facility is an asset
  • Bondable and must be willing to obtain a security clearance
  • Class "5" drivers license with clean drivers abstract
  • Computer skills
  • Class C CPR, First aid Certification & AED training
  • Pro Serve
