Position Title: Second Shift Operations Supervisor

Location: On-Site – expected to work fully at the designated campus/office location.

Hiring Wage/Salary Range: $65,000 to $70,000

Responsibilities
  • Oversee 2nd shift custodians, groundskeepers, and tradespeople to ensure effective maintenance, regulatory compliance, and high service quality for the campus community.
  • Supervise staff, manage performance, and maintain accurate records; ensure fair and effective hiring, workload distribution, and performance evaluations with development opportunities and disciplinary actions when needed.
  • Ensure smooth shift transitions and proper documentation of work completed or outstanding; coordinate with Campus Safety and environmental health and safety as needed.
  • Serve as the point of contact for campus departments needing after-hours support; ensure staff execute work properly within relevant regulatory guidelines with emphasis on safety and sustainability.
  • Maintain courteous, responsive interactions with campus stakeholders and ensure high-quality customer service.
  • Foster professional development, mentoring, and opportunities to sustain performance; support fair employment decisions (hiring, promotion, salary adjustments, terminations) as applicable.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to support ongoing operations and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications

Professional Experience/ Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience directly supervising staff.
  • Experience and familiarity with state and federal OSHA rules and regulations related to facilities services.
  • Ability to provide direction and leadership to achieve goals in a timely manner.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines; model superior customer service and use creative problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, internet applications, and e-mail.
  • Experience implementing quality improvement processes and industry best practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, conflict resolution, customer service, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Experience estimating costs for budgeting and monitoring expenditures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of constituents daily.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with work order and time entry systems.
  • Experience managing in a collective bargaining unit environment.

Education

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • An Associate’s degree or higher, or Technical School degree is preferred.

Certifications

  • Current valid driver’s license, in accordance with the University’s Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle Use Policy, is required.
