We are currently seeking motivated, detail-oriented Seasonal Crop Scouts to join our team in Southern Alberta for the upcoming growing season.

Position Overview

As a Seasonal Crop Scout, you will play a critical role in our data validation process by conducting ground-truth activities in agricultural fields. You will work closely with our machine learning data analysts, and business development team to ensure the accuracy, quality, and reliability of data collected through drone flights. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about both agriculture and innovative technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field inspections to collect ground-truth data for validating drone imagery and computer vision analytics
  • Identify and document crop conditions, pests, diseases, nutrient deficiencies, and other agronomic factors
  • Accurately locate and record field data points using GPS tools
  • Conduct and co-ordinate drone flights and support efficient and timely data collection
  • Communicate observations and findings with data analysts and agronomists to support report generation
  • Maintain clear, accurate, and detailed records of all field observations and measurements
  • Follow all safety protocols and company guidelines while performing fieldwork
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Agriculture, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • General knowledge of agricultural pests, diseases, and crop management practices
  • Ability to work independently or in a team
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate data collection
  • Proficiency with GPS tools and basic computer skills
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Physically capable of walking long distances and performing outdoor fieldwork
  • Problem-solving ability and sound decision-making
Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with precision agriculture technologies and remote sensing
  • Previous experience in crop scouting, field inspections, or agricultural work is considered an asset
  • Experience with drones and aerial imagery interpretation
