Essential Responsibilities
  • Operate the screed both manually and with automatic controls, ensuring the highest quality of work
  • Safely manage screed operations, including tonnage control and regular equipment maintenance
  • Collaborate with other crew members and operators to ensure smooth, efficient paving operations
  • Uphold Ledcor’s Health & Safety programs and procedures at all times
  • Set angle and depth of the screed, verify depth specifications, and estimate asphalt quantities needed
  • Ensure even distribution of asphalt material across the road surface
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience as a Screed Operator on highway construction projects
  • Proven ability to set and verify screed angle, depth, and asphalt quantity specifications
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and performing physically demanding tasks
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
  • Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
Work Conditions
  • Field-based position from May to November 2026
  • Flexibility to work on projects across Alberta (travel required)
  • Shift rotations of 10–14 hours per day, including nights and overtime
  • Living-out allowance of $135 per day to help with accommodation costs
  • Preference for candidates with an RV or trailer, as camp areas with hookups will be provided
