Retail Sales Supervisor – The Duty Free at Peace Bridge

We are preparing to launch a modernized, land‑border duty‑free retail shop in Fort Erie, Ontario, and are seeking an experienced Retail Sales Supervisor to oversee day‑to‑day store operations, staff supervision, merchandising, customer service, purchasing and inventory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise retail staff and oversee daily floor operations, coach and direct sales workers.
  • Assign staff to duties, establish work schedules, and ensure adequate coverage across departments.
  • Hire, train, and arrange training for new staff members.
  • Sell merchandise, support product knowledge initiatives, and ensure high standards of customer service.
  • Order merchandise, monitor stock levels, and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Authorize merchandise returns and support resolution of customer requests, supply shortages, and service concerns.
  • Prepare reports on sales volumes, merchandising performance, staffing matters, and inventory turnover.
  • Organize and maintain inventory, supporting purchasing and logistics processes where required.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of workers across the retail floor and receiving areas.
  • Conduct performance reviews and support ongoing development of team members.
  • Collaborate with purchasing and inventory management teams to maintain stock accuracy and ensure merchandise flow meets operational needs.
Qualifications
  • Education: College, CEGEP, or non‑university certificate/diploma.
  • Minimum one (1) year in retail supervision, merchandising, or inventory‑related roles.
  • Strong understanding of retail operations, staff supervision, and inventory organization.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service and resolve issues effectively.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Experience preparing CBSA accounting documents (B116, transfers, destruction certificates, etc.) in a multi‑site environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Teams, inventory control software, Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  • Excellent written communication skills and strong client‑service focus.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and work independently.
  • On‑site role only; all work must be completed at the physical location.
