Your opportunity

Dillon’s Ecological & Risk Assessment / Risk Management Discipline is looking for an experienced Environmental Risk Assessor (Scientist / Engineer) to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

At Dillon, we operate as one team. This position is ideally situated at any of our Ontario offices (Ottawa, Toronto, Oakville, Hamilton, Kitchener, Guelph, London, Chatham or Windsor); however, alternate locations may be considered.

Responsibilities

What your day will look like

  • Manage and lead risk assessment projects related to exposure to soil, groundwater, sediment, surface water, and soil vapour / indoor air for chemical hazards, compliant with O.Reg. 153 / 04 and other standards.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff in technical skills related to human health and ecological risk assessment.
  • Act as main client contact, communicating technical and project management information.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols and regulations.
  • Respond to Requests for Proposal (RFPs) to develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Guide project team members on data collection needs for risk assessments.
  • Lead data interpretation and presentation with other senior specialists.
  • Manage multiple environmental projects involving teams of staff and specialists.

Business Development and Administration

  • Build and manage relationships with clients, regulators, labs, and stakeholders.
  • Support client account management and corporate initiatives.
  • Business travel may be required.

Learning and Development

  • Develop and execute personal development plans.
  • Participate in the growth of peers and junior staff through guidance and mentoring.
  • Contribute to Dillon’s professional profile through involvement in associations and committees.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in environmental consulting or related fields, with project management focus.
  • Degree in environmental sciences, engineering, toxicology, or related, with advanced degrees preferred.
  • Qualifications as a QP-RA under O.Reg. 153 / 04 and in-depth Ontario risk assessment knowledge.
  • Ability to pass police checks and hold or attain Federal Security Status.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.

Experience

  • Experience guiding risk assessment methods in Ontario and federally.
  • Proficiency in site characterization, exposure assessment, toxicology, modeling, vapour intrusion, emerging contaminants, and risk communication.
  • Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience presenting to clients, regulators, and the public.
  • Experience with Risk Management Plans and leading RA reports is an asset.
