Central City Brewers and Distillers is a craft brewery in the business of developing and selling international award-winning premium craft beer and high-quality distilled spirits brewed without compromise. Based in Surrey, British Columbia, CCBD was voted Canada Best Brewery of the Year in 2010 and 2012. Its Red Racer brand has become a cult icon among craft beer enthusiasts throughout North America. Founded in 2003 as a brewpub and liquor store in downtown Surrey, CCBD celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2013 with the grand opening of a brand new, 68,000 sq. ft brewery and distillery on Bridgeview Drive. In 2019 we opened a 40,000 sq ft storage facility with approximately 2000 barrels of whiskey aging in this facility. We are proud of being a local-Canadian Brewery that is currently expanding.

Job Summary

This role is primarily responsible for providing outstanding customer service and performing cashier functions for Central City Brewers Liquor Stores located at 12922 -115 Avenue, Surrey (Near Scout Road Skytrain Station). The Retail Supervisor plays a key leadership role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of our liquor store at Bridgeview Drive. This position supports the General Manager by overseeing staff performance, maintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering an exceptional customer experience. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership, product knowledge, and a passion for creating a welcoming and professional retail environment.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities
  • Supervise daily store operations, ensuring compliance with all liquor control regulations and company policies.
  • Lead by example in providing excellent customer service and resolving escalated customer concerns in a professional manner.
  • Perform accurate and timely cashier functions, including scanning, processing sales transactions, and handling cash or electronic payments.
  • Conduct ID verification to ensure compliance with provincial liquor laws; promptly report violations or concerns to management.
  • Train, coach, and support retail associates to uphold service and operational standards.
  • Oversee restocking of shelves and coolers, ensuring merchandise is attractively displayed and rotated based on expiry or popularity.
  • Monitor and assist in inventory counts, ordering, and replenishment to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and adherence to health and safety standards.
  • Assist customers in selecting products, providing recommendations on wines, spirits, and beer selections for personal or event use.
  • Ensure store opening and closing procedures are completed accurately and securely.
  • Support promotional activities, seasonal merchandising, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications/Desired Attributes
  • Must be at least 19 years of age and legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Valid Serving It Right certification required.
  • Minimum 2 years of retail or liquor store experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or keyholder capacity preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of liquor products including beer, wine, and spirits; WSET certification or equivalent experience is an asset.
  • Proven ability to provide outstanding customer service and lead a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong cash-handling and point-of-sale (POS) experience, including performing basic mathematical computations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask effectively.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work in the store requires frequent bending and long periods of standing or walking.
  • This is a position that requires to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Be able to perform physically demanding work, including lifting 20-25 kg boxes.
