Position Summary

Store Operators must have a business license or be willing to acquire one.

Store Operators are responsible for having or acquiring proper documentation to comply with provincial and federal regulations including a BNR registration, re-sale certificate, sales tax license, commercial bank account, access to an accredited payroll service, Workplace Safety and Insurance Board certificate and federal and provincial tax IDs (if applicable).

This is a contract-commission based position.

Candidates must have experience in retail business management, operating retail stores, sales and using Microsoft software.

Responsibilities
  • Inspecting the store location site and providing information about it to Calendar Club.
  • Hiring and training a crew to meet the delivery truck, unload it and build the store according to instructions provided.
  • Hiring and training employees to help operate the store day to day.
  • Managing ALL labour costs and determining a method of payroll (weekly/bi-weekly, salary) using an accredited payroll service.
  • Communicating with mall management to inquire about permits, storage space, and any other special needs or requests.
  • Finding offsite storage for empty skids, boxes, and totes if there is no mall storage; may require a rental truck. These items will be reused when packing up the store at lease end.
  • Building and merchandising the store according to the instructions and plan-o-grams.
  • Preparing and arranging daily deposits.
  • Completing the End of Day process on the POS and depositing cash to a bank account assigned by Calendar Club.
  • Ensuring merchandise is stocked and displayed neatly by staff.
  • Keeping the store up to date with promotional signage and marketing materials as needed and requested.
  • Ensuring all store employees provide exemplary customer service, greet customers, distribute promotional products, and wear provided uniforms.
  • Tearing down/packing up at the end of the season with adequate staff to complete on time.

As a Calendar Club of Canada Operator, you have the opportunity to manage your own business while reducing the risks of “doing it on your own.”

Inventory
  • You earn commission as you sell the inventory. Commissions are paid on a schedule indicated in the Seasonal Operator Agreement.
  • Low inventory risk. Calendar Club pays for the inventory and ships it to the store. As an Operator you are responsible for keeping it safe; your company is responsible for any missing inventory or unauthorized discounts.
  • Scan in each license plate (packing slip) in each box when it arrives to confirm items arrived in the store.
  • Replenishment of stock and a broad product variety.
  • Returnable for credit at the end of the lease.
  • Freight paid for product and fixtures if within scope.
  • Proven Operations System, Manuals, and Build/Pack-up instructions.
  • Planogram provided per store.
  • A POS (Point of Sale) system provided; return it at store closing.
Marketing
  • In-store signage, mall advertising, and promotional graphics.
Fixtures
  • All fixtures are provided and designed for each concept; outbound and fixture return freight is paid; detailed assembly instructions.
Leasing
  • Best available mall locations.
Extensive real estate connections
  • Calendar Club pays the rent.
Support
  • Training
  • Access to support by phone, email, or virtual video chats
  • Access to our library of videos, processes, instructions and meeting recordings
  • Updates by email regarding promotions, tips, goals and actual sales achieved
  • Daily reports showing % damages, % returns, % customer data gathered, etc.
  • Daily shipping notifications and inventory
  • Regular meetings to share updates and answer questions.
