About the Opportunity
The Research Assistant supports a particular research study or division by assisting with study administration, providing general administrative support, and maintaining study data.
Study/Clinical Trial Administration
- Completes Case Report Forms in conjunction with the PI, Manager, and/or Coordinator
- Processes and submits forms to the Research Ethics Board (REB)
- Prepares specimens for shipment, as applicable
- Contacts study subjects to book diagnostic/clinical tests, assessments, and appointments
- Administers, scores, and records results for study tests (e.g., questionnaires)
- Assists with subject screening by accessing patient charts
Administrative Support
- Acts as a point of contact by providing information or direction when answering, screening, and referring telephone calls, emails, faxes, and/or in-person inquiries
- Replies to routine correspondence and composes and edits letters, documents, and general memoranda
- Orders, maintains, and monitors office supplies
- Attends, records, and distributes minutes for meetings
- Faxes, photocopies, books rooms, caters meetings, and performs other related clerical functions
- Coordinates incoming and outgoing mail and arranges for courier services
- Processes invoices and financial payments
- Acquires signatures for regulatory documents
Data Management
- Collects data related to the study
- Develops and maintains filing systems for subject and study documentation
- Files study documents and test results
- Maintains methods of tracking information through databases and spreadsheets
- Enters, summarizes, and analyses data using database and/or spreadsheets
- Performs statistical analysis where applicable
- Archives documentation related to the study once it has closed and develops retrieval methods from storage
About You
- Currently enrolled in post-secondary education in a Health Science and/or Science related field, or completed post-secondary education in a Health Science and/or Science related field (required)
- Two years’ research-related experience (preferred)
- CCRP (Certified Clinical Research Professional) or CCRA (Certified Clinical Research Associate) an asset
- TCPS2: CORE Certification considered an asset
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint), email, and internet
- Proficiency with current Capital Health systems (STAR, PHS, and/or LIS) an asset
- Experience with the REB submission process an asset, especially with the ROMEO system
- Diverse experience in data management and analysis an asset – including qualitative, quantitative, and quality improvement frameworks
- Experience with grant writing and application process an asset
- Effective communication, problem solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to draft, format, and edit office correspondence
- Well-developed organizational, time-management, and daily planning skills
- Ability to work independently as well as within a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Previous experience in a health care/research setting is an asset
- Competency in other languages is an asset, French preferred
Hours
- Long Assignment, Part-Time (80%) / 60 Hours bi-weekly
- January 2026 to January 2027, approximately 12 months
- Potential to extend beyond 1 year with successful funding acquisition. Successful applicants would contribute to drafting and submission of grant applications if extending beyond 1 year.
Compensation and Benefits
$22.78 - $24.48 hourly
