Qualifications

Responsibilities – Your Role
  • Assist residents with established rehabilitative programs, such as task analysis, application and use of special seating, assistive devices, joint rotation, and cognitive rehabilitation.
  • Position, set up and monitor programs such as Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) treatments, range of motion exercises (passive / active / assisted), stretching, muscle strength and endurance programs, and ambulation programs using various assistive devices and gait patterns.
  • Prepare designated modalities for residents (hot packs, cold packs, electrotherapy, and exercise apparatus) as directed by the therapist.
  • Transport residents to and from recreation or rehabilitation programs using mobility aids (walker, wheelchair, lift).
  • Record observations on the care plan and report progress or lack of progress to the Primary Nurse and Physiotherapist if available.
  • Teach, direct and demonstrate techniques to residents, care staff, and volunteers.
  • Operate transportation (bus/van/car) as required to transport residents to programs.
Must Have Qualifications – Are You the Right Fit?
  • Completion of recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program plus 1 year’s recent, relevant experience working with seniors, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Maintains Current Class 4 BC driver's license, as applicable to home needs.
  • Occupational First Aid Level 1 certification
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19
  • Strong communication skills in English
