Research in the mines and environment field at UQAT is growing. Professors working in this sector are attached to the Institut de recherche en mines et en environnement [Research Institute on Mines and the Environment] (IRME), consisting of a multi‑disciplinary team of 18 professors working on the process of mineral development as a whole. The Unité de recherche et de service en technologie minérale [Research and Service Unit in Mineral Technology] (URSTM) research laboratories, as well as their technical and professional staff, support the deployment of multidisciplinary research projects at IRME. The IRME‑URSTM organizational model relies on the pooling of human and material resources, which allows it to work and to distinguish itself in three areas of activity: training, research, and service.
The individual selected will teach mainly individual students at the graduate level for the purposes of furthering their theoretical, scientific, and technological knowledge in the field of applied geophysics, including remote sensing and instrumentation, in the contexts of mineral exploration, mine waste management, hydrogeology, geotechnics, and mine site reclamation. The individual must carry out research and be able to secure funding for graduate students under their direction through grant agencies or other funds.
The individual selected will participate actively in the development and national and international outreach of IRME and its different partnerships (IRME UQAT‑Polytechnique, ResMinA, research chairs) by the development of an innovative research program in the above‑mentioned fields. The individual will be called upon to take on certain administrative tasks at IRME and will need to join the existing faculty team.
All applications will be treated confidentially. Interested candidates must submit their curriculum vitae, a cover letter which, in particular, describes your teaching philosophy, and the broad outlines of your proposed research program, two letters of recommendation, and the doctoral diploma and to voluntarily submit, the Equal Access to Employment form, including the competition number, prior to February 13, 2026, 4 p.m, to the attention of:
