What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Coordinating and completing field assessments and preparation of reports for a variety of environmental projects in the Lower Mainland and elsewhere in BC;
  • Participating in or conducting field work in terrestrial, aquatic - freshwater and marine settings (i.e., environmental monitoring, fish and fish habitat assessments, fish salvage, water quality assessment and monitoring, sediment quality assessment, vegetation assessment and post-construction monitoring, wildlife salvage and pre-construction surveys, and Riparian Area Protection Regulation (RAPR) assessments);
  • Completing aquatic, wildlife, waterbody, vegetation, and general ecological surveys;
  • Assisting Senior Professional Biologists with the preparation of permit applications and reports to Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) and the BC Ministry of Forests for wildlife and fish salvage operations, RAPR assessments of watercourses and for BCWater Sustainability Act(WSA) notifications and approvals for “works in and about a stream” in BC;
  • Monitoring sites for compliance with erosion and sediment control.

What your education and experience look like

  • 3+ years of environmental consulting with field experience in British Columbia.
  • Degree in Biology (B.Sc.) from an accredited university.
  • Registered Professional Biologist (R.P.Bio.) with the BC College of Applied Biologists.
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in the use of basic field navigation and survey equipment such as maps, GPS, water quality meters, etc.
  • Ability to deal professionally and effectively with Clients and Co-workers.
  • The ideal candidate is a motivated, self-starter that has the ability to work effectively in a demanding and fast paced environment while working in the Burnaby office or a hybrid work setting.
  • Must have a valid BC Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Has strong oral and written communication skills.


The salary range for this role is between $75,000.00 to $85,000.00. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
