A healthcare provider in Ontario is seeking a dedicated nurse for Maternal/Infant/Child care. Candidates must possess relevant certifications including a Certificate of Competence and BLS. Qualifications

Overview

The successful applicant will work in compliance with applicable legislation and Hospital Policies and Procedures, follow the Bluewater Health Standards of Performance Excellence, and operate within the Attendance Support Program parameters. They will possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and demonstrate strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Nurses practice under the College of Nurses of Ontario standards and must maintain current competence throughout their nursing career.

Qualifications:
  • Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program required
  • Completion of the RNAO Breast Feeding e-learning education course required
  • MIC Scrub Certification preferred
Skill, Ability and Experience:
  • Ability to apply critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution and prioritization skills to nursing duties
  • Basic proficiency in computers; Oracle experience required
  • Minimum of 1 year recent clinical experience in Pediatrics and Post-Partum preferred
  • Recent experience with obstetrical scrub nursing required
  • Experience calculating and administering dosages and maintaining intravenous infusions for pediatric patients preferred
  • Competence in the assessment and ongoing care of mothers, newborns, pediatric patients and families including health teaching and education preferred
Principal Duties:
  • Provides appropriate nursing care and teaching to Maternal/Infant/Child patients, OBGYN Clinic patients and Obstetrical Pre-admission patients
  • Participates in unit/department and Hospital Quality Improvement initiatives
  • Completes mandatory education as required to work on the Maternal Infant Child Unit
  • Acts as a coach, mentor, resource and positive role model for new staff and students
  • Other related duties as assigned
