A health services organization is seeking a Patient Flow Nurse to enhance patient flow management in the Edmonton Zone. This non-direct care role utilizes data analytics and clinical knowledge to identify and address capacity issues. The ideal candidate must have experience in acute care and hold a nursing license from the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta. This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to collaborate with various teams while providing quality care and managing multiple priorities. A part-time contract with competitive pay is offered.
The Patient Flow Nurse (PFN) is a centralized Edmonton Zone role within the Integrated Operations Center (IOC), supporting real-time patient flow coordination across the continuum of care. Operating in a non-direct care capacity, the PFN uses clinical expertise, data analytics, and situational awareness to assist in destination/deployment decisions and system-wide capacity management. Working collaboratively with EMS Supervisors, RAAPID North, Patient Flow Coordinators/AHN, Capacity Leads, and site-based teams, the PFN helps identify and address bottlenecks, supports proactive destination decisions, and contributes to the smooth movement of patients across acute care and community settings. This role is ideal for Registered Nurses with strong clinical knowledge, critical thinking skills, and a passion for system-level coordination and quality improvement.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well‑being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family‑centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58–$54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS‑HCP) certification.
