About The Job

• Practices in a variety of clinical settings and is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of client care
• Works in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Ensures the delivery of client‑centered care by assisting individual clients and their families respond to changing health care needs
• Demonstrates a specialized body of knowledge and bases practice on nursing science and related content from other sciences and humanities

We currently have Part Time and Full Time opportunities available with the KGH Medical team. These opportunities include Relief and Permanent positions. Relief position end dates are determined by the anticipated return date of the incumbent. Shifts of work will be scheduled days and nights; rotating from 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00 hours.

About this location/unit

Interior Health has embarked on an expansion plan to meet increasing demands, expand health services, and enhance patient care in the Okanagan. Construction of the six‑storey, Centennial Patient Care Tower was completed in May 2012. It includes an expanded emergency department and ambulatory care department, five new operating rooms, a rooftop helipad, an expanded adult inpatient psychiatric unit, and extra space for more patient beds in the future. Kelowna General Hospital is the site of the brand new clinical academic campus for the University of BC Medical School.

The Medicine Portfolio At The Kelowna General Hospital Consists Of Multiple Departments, Each With Their Own Designated Area Of Care. The Departments Within The Medicine Portfolio Include:

• Unit 3MU (Medical Unit) is a new, 18‑bed Medical Overflow unit
• Unit 4A is a 32‑bed Medical Renal unit
• Unit 4B is a 32‑bed combined Respirology/Oncology unit
• Unit 4 East is a 32‑bed Geriatric Medical unit
• Unit 5B is a 24 bed Medical/GI Unit
• Unit 6 West is a 34‑bed Stroke/Clinical Teaching Unit
• The Rehab unit includes 38 Rehab beds
