Position Details
This role is on a rotating shift schedule including days, afternoons and nights including weekends.
The starting hourly rate is $44.99.
A Day in the Life
The Refrigeration B Operator will be responsible for operating all plant refrigeration and boiler systems. In addition, this position requires the individual to load/unload bulk oil tankers, routine repair and maintain ammonia/boiler related equipment and systems.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Assume responsibility for Plant start-up / Shutdown as well as the safe and efficient operation of the ammonia refrigeration and steam equipment as outlined in the TSSA regulations
- Load / Unload tank trucks and maintain unloading area and tank farm areas to GMP standards
- Perform preventative maintenance and various operational and safety checks associated with the equipment
- Respond to emergency situations and support the operations of the buildings fire suppression system
- Record keeping in various log books
- Testing and chemical treatment of plant steam and process waters
- Formulation and transfers of various products as required
- Member of plant’s confined space entry / rescue and HAZAMAT team
- Ensures compliance with Bunge safety policies at all times by putting safety before profit and production
Skills/Experience Requirements
- Post‑secondary education and a valid Refrigeration "B" (or 3rd class operating engineer) ticket in good standing with T.S.S.A
- Refrigeration "A" or millwright experience would be a strong asset
- Demonstrates knowledge of GMP, HACCP, BRC, FSSC, and proper employee hygiene practices to meet plant requirements
- Ability to wear respiratory equipment
- Ability to work rotating shifts as required.
- Ability to do heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.)
- Working with minimal supervision
- Repairing and maintaining mechanical defects
- Experience working in the food industry and working with packaging equipment would be a strong asset
- Must be able to work across shifts (days, afternoons and nights), including weekends and extended hours
- Experience in Microsoft Word / Excel
- Good oral and written communications
- Knowledge of SAP would be a strong asset
