Job description
Role Overview

At Genesis, editors don’t “decorate” videos. They build them. You own the sequencing of every reel. You choose which sentences stay, which get cut, and the order the ideas appear. Your job is to take raw footage (podcast clips, YouTube videos, reel shoots, scripted talking‑head content) and turn it into a sequence that hooks fast, keeps attention, and works for both the creator’s core audience and people who have never seen them before. Every second of the reel must earn its place. You decide the pacing, the structure, and the storytelling flow. You’re not just adding captions, b‑roll, and music. You are crafting the entire piece from start to finish. If the edit wins, it’s because of your sequencing. If it loses, it’s your responsibility to fix the sequence.

Responsibilities
  • Clip down raw footage into usable moments
  • Sequence those clips into a finished, ready‑to‑post reel
  • Remove all dead space and anything that slows the pace
  • Enhance audio when necessary
  • Add clean, readable captions that support retention
  • Organize and categorize reels in Dropbox for the team
  • Follow the content schedule and hit deadlines consistently
  • Communicate clearly with the Creative Director to ensure each reel fits the vision and strategic direction
Required Skills
  • Years of hands‑on editing experience (short‑form required)
  • Proof you can edit videos that go viral (portfolio must show traction)
  • Strong communication: you can take feedback and give direction clearly
  • Understanding of social media growth and how content breaks out
  • Knowledge of universal themes, human interests, and attention triggers
