Position: PROGRAM DIRECTOR – BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
PLASP Child Care Services is a charitable organization operating on a not-for-profit basis, providing high quality early learning and child care for children up to 12 years of age. PLASP operates in more than 240 schools providing before school, lunch, and after school programs and 30 full-day early learning and child care centres and six EarlyON locations for children from 0 – 6 years.
Responsibilities
- Establishing and maintaining a safe, warm and caring environment in which a high-quality extended day program can operate
- Planning, developing, and implementing programs of stimulating age appropriate activities for groups of children. Activities will promote their physical, social, emotional and intellectual well-being, in accordance with the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA), How Does Learning Happen (HDLH?), and the guidelines established by PLASP for all program components including P.A. Days
- Budgeting and ordering food for the program, preparing nutritious breakfasts and snacks while adhering to the guidelines of the Canada Food Guide, and in accordance with the rotational snack planner
- Supervising and training staff, volunteers and students on placement (if applicable), by providing strong leadership, decision making and problem-solving skills and conducting regular performance appraisals
- Responsible for all administration for the program, including registration, record-keeping, health and safety monitoring and ordering of supplies
- Operating programs according to the Ministry of Education (MEDU) standards and ensuring the CCEYA license is in good standing
- Participating fully in P.A. Days, by providing safe, reliable care on and off school premises
Qualifications
- A minimum 3 years’ experience in child care and community service organization (experience in supervision of staff preferred)
- Knowledge of the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA) and Ministry of Education Licensing requirements
- An ECE degree/diploma and be registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE)
- A valid Standard First Aid Certificate, with level C CPR
- A valid Criminal Reference Check – Vulnerable Sector
- All health requirements (immunizations) to be met in accordance with the CCEYA and Medical Officer of Health
