Qualifications

  • Must be able to work outdoors in unpredictable weather conditions.
  • Previous race, race coaching or ski instructing experience is an asset.
  • Must work weekends from Christmas through March Break.

HOURLY RATE: Starting at $19.29 per hour

Full Or Part-time Hours

  • Full Time: Average 4-5 shifts/week
  • Part Time: Average 1-3 shifts/week
The Race Coach

The Race Coach is responsible for the safety, skill development and supervision of all athletes on their team. It is also the responsibility of the Race Coach to help the Supervisors create and maintain an athlete centered training and race environment by providing quality service in a professional, well-organized and up to date manner. The Race Coach will also assist the Head Coach, Supervisors and Race Administrative Coordinators with all aspects of training and race duties as required.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
  • Provide a safe, fun and personalized race training environment for skill development of our athletes.
  • Work with the Manager and Assistant Manager of Race, Race Supervisors and your co-coach to design, implement, evaluate and adjust season-long training and competition plans.
  • Engage, motivate and lead your team and athletes.
  • Teach by example with frequent demonstrations.
  • Be prepared with a plan and maintain an accurate journal of training activities.
  • Maintain frequent contact with parents.
  • Facilitate team trips to other races and events in the area.
  • Promotes Blue Mountain and acts as role model for athletes.
WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU?
  • Must hold a minimum ACA-CSC Entry Level Trained / Certified qualification (i.e. Level 1).
  • Must hold a minimum Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance (CSIA) Level 1.
  • Willing and able to work outdoors in a variety of unpredictable weather conditions.
  • Previous race, race coach and/or ski instructing experience considered an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and excellent customer services skills.
  • Must be able to work weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) from Christmas through March Break.
  • Successful applicants (18yrs of age+) are required to provide a Criminal Background Check (Vulnerable Sector Search).
