Job description

Overlanders Manufacturing is currently seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Technician to join our team in Abbotsford. This full-time position plays a key role in ensuring our precision sheet metal products meet both internal and customer quality standards.

As a QC Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting products during and after production, identifying defects, and verifying compliance with specifications. Your attention to detail and commitment to quality will help maintain Overlanders’ high standards and support our reputation for excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform first article, in process and final inspection on machined and sheet metal components.
  • Calibrate and verify tools if qualified to do so.
  • Maintain quality control records for measuring equipment.
  • Recommend inspection process changes which could improve the overall product quality.
  • If a component does not meet the tolerances on a customer drawing, the final inspector must notify the Foreman.
  • Work with the Foreman to find root causes, identify risk, and implement corrective and preventive actions to close the NCR.
  • Responsible for following Quality Procedures, Safety Procedures and Lean Procedures.
  • Complete Quality Reports, data entry, and other work order documentation.
Required Skills And Experience
  • 3 – 5 years’ Experience in quality control or inspection within a manufacturing environment (sheet metal experience preferred).
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in a fabrication / machining environment.
  • Ability to read, write and understand product specifications, as well as customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings to understand specified dimensional and functional characteristics to be tested, measured or inspected.
  • GD&T knowledge.
  • ASQ certification is an asset.
  • Familiarity with different sheet metal materials, fabrication processes (cutting, bending, welding, etc.), and surface treatments to ensure appropriate quality control measures are implemented at each stage.
  • Proficient in implementing and maintaining quality management systems, such as ISO 9001, to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Ability to perform precise measurements and inspections to assure compliance, with experience using measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, scanners, height gauges, scales etc.
  • Familiarity with various inspection and testing methods used in sheet metal manufacturing, such as visual inspection and dimensional measurement.
  • Ability to develop and document quality metrics.
  • Ability to accurately and neatly complete documentation for each inspected lot.
  • Ability to inspect printed material for content, weight, finish, and color match.
  • Good organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Excel, Word, Outlook – Will be trained on company software.
  • Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously.
  • Ability to work to achieve deadlines with strong time management skills.
  • Have a strong drive and dedication to succeed in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure and tight deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.
Employment Details
  • Shift: Monday to Thursday, 4:15pm to 2:15am (40 hours per week).
  • Location: 30320 Fraser Hwy, Abbotsford, BC V4X 1G1.
  • Occasional travel to nearby company locations is required, and candidates must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
