Salary range CAD $41.42 - $59.52 / hour.

Job Summary

We are recruiting for a Public Health Nurse to cover multiple cities (Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Mission). The role is a casual opportunity within the Public Health Services team, focusing on nursing services in the population health/health promotion model.

Responsibilities
  1. Immunizes children and adults against vaccine‑preventable disease.
  2. Applies epidemiological principles to investigate communicable diseases and assist with outbreak management.
  3. Provides client prenatal, postnatal and family assessments, counseling and service coordination to promote healthy child development.
  4. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and delivers educational programs for selected populations, providing health information and counseling related to lifestyle issues, cultural and language barriers, and chronic disease prevention.
  5. Engages community members in planning and implementing activities to address health needs and evaluates services.
  6. Builds relationships with professionals, community members and agencies to promote healthy public policy and services.
  7. Maintains accurate records, prepares reports, and collects statistics.
  8. Contributes to program quality through participation in committees, strategic planning and using best practice literature.
  9. Provides preceptorship and mentorship to nursing students and new health professionals.
  10. Participates in research studies, surveys and focus groups.
  11. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and experience

Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Graduation from an approved nursing school with a public health nursing component. Six months recent relevant public health nursing experience or one year recent nursing experience in maternal/infant/child, or meets new grad requirements with public health practicum.

Valid Class V BC driver’s licence and access to a personal vehicle for business purposes.
