Overview of the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy Program

The Ontario Structured Psychotherapy Therapist (OSP) will report to the Counselling & Treatment Team Lead and will provide evidence-based, short-term, client-centered Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and related approaches to individuals with mild to moderate mental health issues including obsessive-compulsive disorder, health anxiety, panic, phobias, social anxiety, depression and trauma. The OSP therapist will have strong clinical therapy skills and expertise in completing comprehensive assessments, developing treatment goals, monitoring progress through measurement-based care, and delivering full CBT treatment courses. The Psychotherapist works as part of a team and participates in clinical and peer supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Provides individual or group protocol-based structured psychotherapy, including CBT and CPT, in adherence with the OSP Clinical Training guidelines.
  • Delivers psychotherapy services virtually, in person, or by telephone based on client needs, with the ability to transition between modes as required.
  • Conducts clinical assessments to identify symptoms, develop treatment goals and inform individualized treatment plans including discharge planning.
  • Participates in safety planning in consultation with the Counselling & Treatment Team Lead when required.
  • Participates in the OSP Clinical Training Program and ongoing professional education as required.
  • Engages in ongoing clinical consultation and related activities in adherence with OSP fidelity monitoring requirements and program guidelines.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation and reports in line with Regulatory College and program requirements, including data collection to evaluate client and service outcomes.
  • Identifies when client needs are no longer in scope of the service and uses a stepped-care model to ensure appropriate services.
  • Collaborates with the Counselling & Treatment Team Lead to arrange step-up or step-down care.
  • Provides service navigation and supports for clients stepping out of the OSP program, in consultation with the Team Lead.
  • Contributes to program development, research and educational activities as requested.
  • Participates in clinical OSP Community of Practice meetings as requested.
  • Models and promotes ethical practice and aligns behavior with the CMHA Kenora Branch mission, OSP program, and CMHA values.
  • Provides feedback on clinical program improvements to the OSP team, including the Regional Training Lead as required.
  • Participates in regular clinical consultation meetings to review training goals and clinical skills with the Counselling & Treatment Team Lead.
  • Maintains knowledge of current best practices for CBT and participates in OSP training.
  • Attends workshops, in-services, and trainings and shares knowledge with the OSP team.
  • Performs self-assessment for competency and development; pursues opportunities for self-development.
  • Supports a culture of safety and client safety, following organizational policies and procedures.
  • Identifies safety issues and informs leads of concerns, participates in improvement activities, and ensures safe information transfer.
  • Collaborates with therapists, managers, and leaders across the OSP network to deliver services.
  • Maintains collaborative relationships with internal and external contacts and adheres to CMHA Kenora Branch policies.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of psychotherapy, CBT, CPT, and diagnostic criteria (DSM-5); applies this knowledge to clinical practice.
  • Communicates effectively with coordinators, leaders, partners, and directors; demonstrates strong interpersonal skills.
  • Maintains understanding of legislation and professional standards relevant to client care.
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships in inter-professional teams; demonstrates problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Manages time and priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment; attention to detail in data collection and documentation.
  • Contributes to anti-oppression and anti-racism efforts and ongoing clinical education.
  • Experiences with Indigenous, LGBTQ2S+, and diverse populations are assets.
  • Adheres to CMHA Kenora Branch policies and ensures confidentiality of all records and information.
  • Participates in team and staff meetings, committees, and quality-assurance activities as assigned.
  • Promotes a safe workplace by following WHMIS, safety policies, infection control, and related guidelines; participates in orientation and client safety initiatives.
  • Supports self-care and addresses vicarious traumatization; performs other duties as required.
